Belly fat is a major problem for many people. Often times, it’s the key reason why a person starts a diet and/or exercise program. So how do you get rid of your unwanted stomach fat? The answer is pretty simple and straight forward – with a good exercise program combined with a good diet program. As easy as it sounds, it’s not so easy to accomplish. There are plenty of roadblocks on the way that stops people from reaching their goals: lack of motivation; no time to workout; too busy to prepare healthy meals. This is just a small list.
To lose belly fat, there are some simple rules you can follow that will help you achieve your goal. Below are some tips to help you lose tummy fat and reduce overall body fat.
1) You can’t spot reduce! There are still many people who mistakenly believe that they can somehow manage to spot reduce – that is, target the belly fat specifically and get rid of it. The only way to successfully get rid of your stomach fat is to reduce your overall body fat, and you can accomplish this by a combination of strength training, cardio training, and having a proper diet and nutrition program.
2) Get rid of the junk food! Go search through your cupboards, and get rid of any junk food you find. You know what I’m talking about: cookies, chips, candies – things high in fat, high in sugar, and high in calories. If you want to snack, snack on fruits and low fat foods.
3) Reduce and limit your alcohol intake. If you drink regularly, then you need to cut down your alcohol intake. If you can, avoid drinking altogether. Beer belly fat is a common problem for men, especially for men who tend to drink often. Each gram of alcohol contains 7.1 calories, where as each gram of protein and carbohydrate contains only 4 calories.
4) Strength training for muscle gain and fat loss! As we mentioned above, strength training is an excellent way to get fit, build some lean muscle mass, and burn off excess body fat.
5) Finally, to lose belly fat, you need a good diet and nutrition program that will help you create a calorie deficit on a daily and weekly basis. Running a calorie surplus will only sabotage your weight loss efforts. You need to create a calorie deficit through a combination of exercising, cardio training, and controlling your calorie consumption through your diet planning.
