This way, in order to have seconds, you have to get up leave the table and go to where the serving dishes are in order to have more than one serving size of any food item. By making it necessary to leave the table you will give yourself time to think about whether or not you really need more food. Are you really still hungry or do you just desire to eat more than you should?
Eating at the table is a good habit to get into because when you eat in front of the computer or TV you are more likely to be oblivious of how much food you are consuming especially if you are eating out of a bag or other container (another bad eating habit).
