It抯 all very well to say that being hypnotized works wonders for the body and the ability to conquer your inner struggles, but when actually is the right time to seek professional help in this area? Should you be hypnotized the moment you find out that you can't break a particular habit, or should you wait a while until you determine that it's impossible to give up on your own?
Well, in this article I'll let you know my opinion on the subject. Firstly though, let me state that being hypnotized does actually work. There has been a lot of controversy over whether or not the methods practiced in the hypnosis field actually hold any weight. Being a hypnosis expert myself, I assure you that time and time again I have seen successes in the industry, unexplainable by any other factor than that of being hypnotized.
So, knowing that it does work, when should you turn to it? Well, let抯 look at the two options I mentioned above. Firstly - the moment you find out that you have a "bad habit". Interestingly, people actually know when they are doing things which could be considered bad for them. Ask any smoker - and they will probably tell you that they are fully aware of the health implications of smoking in the long term.
Being hypnotized accesses the part of the brain that says - "you must have another cigarette", or "you must have another hamburger". It attempts to control these thoughts by potentially turning them on each other. Hence, each time the brain thinks - "I need another hamburger", another thought is instantly triggered which says "no you don't". These two thoughts cancel each other out - and the result is that you don't feel any desire or willingness to have something else to eat.
Clever isn't it. And it is for that reason above that I would recommend turning to hypnosis at any time you feel you need. Whether it be at the beginning of your addiction in order to kick the habit sooner, or after a few tries at quitting yourself - both times are just as good.
Of course, if your habit is life threatening - such as smoking or drug abuse, it's certainly better to seek professional help sooner rather than later. Being hypnotized is a great way to prevent an addiction from developing, and may actually turn off your addictive attitude for the future.
My advice to you would be to talk with a medical practitioner about your issues at your earliest convenience. Mention the option of being hypnotized, and if they react positively, get on the phone to a hypnosis centre right away.
Alternatively, if they recommend an alternative route of treatment, consider your options, and then decide which is more cost effective based on the evidence of success. More often than not, being hypnotized will come out as the preferred option.
