There are 3 main reasons why 98% of fat loss diet plans fail.
1) The first reason why 98% of fat loss diet plans fail is that while times have changed, our bodies still function the way they did centuries ago.
Humans did not always have a reliable source of food every day, and so our bodies are still designed for hunting and gathering and for a time when food was scarce. During those times, there was no such thing as a drive-thru, where you could stop for a quick snack, and no refrigerators filled with food, 10 feet away. They would either actively find food (working very hard to do so) or they would eat nothing at all. It wasn't unusual for them to endure times with little or no nutrition.
To compensate, their bodies slowed down their metabolisms and stored more calories as fat when food was available; this ensured that there would be a back-up energy source for times when food was scarce. Sadly, although most of us living in the developed world no longer need this survival mechanism, it still exists.
So, when you follow a diet plan that restricts your caloric intake, your body responds by shifting into survival mode, preventing you from achieving results. In this mode, your metabolism naturally slows down, and you begin to store more fat while burning less of it. Even worse, you waste away much of your lean muscle tissue.
2) 98% of fat loss diet plans fail because they make you feel hungrier.
(To add to this, you'll be preoccupied with nothing but thoughts of food)
Do you truly believe that one can stay in that state for long?
I think it's doubtful! In fact, the hunger pains will stay as long as you are on such fat loss diet plans, and you'll need to resume eating normally to make them go away. Almost 99% or more of the population can't maintain this way of life permanently, and I certainly don't know anyone who can.
Do you think you can lose weight and keep it off while following fat loss diet plans that are difficult to maintain and designed to fail?
You CAN'T!
3) 98% of the fat loss diet plans fail because reasons 1 and 2 work together to create situations that ensure failure.
Even after you give up on these low-calorie fat loss diet plans, there's more in store for you.
This period of starvation that you have endured has now actually primed your body to burn less fat and store more. Go back to eating normally, and I guarantee that you will end up packing on pounds faster than before. (Heard of the phrase "yo-yo dieting"?)
Unfortunately, even the weight you lost, if any, when you were on such fat loss diet plans was mostly that of retained water and lean muscle mass. You might have reduced the number on the scale, but you didn't actually lose any body fat.
It's clearly no surprise why 98% of fat loss diet plans fail.
