A lot of people who have tried to lose weight in the past have heard about the keto diet. For those of you who don't know the keto diet is a simple diet that is based around high fat and low carbs. Basically the dieter just needs to give up almost all carbs excluding vegetables and primarily eat fat and meats.

Surprisingly the diet works extremely well, and there are may diets that are different variations of the keto diet. For instance many paleo dieters follow a keto diet, and the atkins diet is just another version of the keto diet. Many bodybuilders use various versions of the diet in order to burn off fat before competitions.
In fact probably the most famous group that uses the diet is the whole country of Sweden. Sweden has adopted the diet as their primary way to treat obesity, however this does not mean that you need to be obese for the diet to work.
How do you follow the diet?
The diet itself is simple, the main idea is that in order for your body to remain in a fat you need to consume less than 60 carbs a day. Most of your carbs should come from sources that are high in fiber such as vegetables.
The rest of your food should come from fat and meat sources, eating lots of sausages, bacon, and eggs are a common way to lose fat on this diet. This may sound counter intuitive but surprisingly it works and it works extremely well. Properly following a keto diet generally results in a large amount of weight loss.
What are some of the pro's of a keto diet?
A lot of people feel like they cannot live without their carbs and many of them are probably right, this is not a diet for everyone. One of the biggest advantages from a keto diet is the feeling of fullness that people get while they are on the diet. Fats and proteins are generally much more filling than carbs, and as such people on keto diets rarely feel hungry. It also results in a lot less cheating on the diet, since you will rarely feel like you are hungry but are unable to eat.
