Belly fat can stress you out, keep your shirt on in the summer time, and take the fun out many things, especially eating. It is the most stubborn of all the fat and anyone who has had, or have it, can attest to that. You find yourself asking, "why is it so hard for me to lose belly fat?" It gradually builds up over time and takes forever to lose. The reason is, it is most likely going to be the last to go. Unfortunately, despite what you may have heard, you cannot pinpoint fat loss. All you can do is work at it through diet and exercise. With some time and effort you will burn that belly fat back to the place from which it came. A few common reasons for excess belly fat are overeating, a sedimentary lifestyle, and stress.
Overeating may seem like a no brainer, but it may be easier to do this than you think. If you are not making smart and healthy food choices those calories can add up quite quickly, and over time seem to make belly fat show up overnight. This can be remedied very simply by making good food choices and keeping track of the calories you are taking in.
Having a sedimentary lifestyle may also not come as a shock when talking about that dreadful belly fat, but what does that mean? Do you work in an office or are you a stay at home mom? Do you spend a lot of time on the computer, reading (not that this is totally bad), watching TV, or just sitting on the couch? These are questions you should evaluate about yourself because we all do these things, but we must find a balance. Exercise is your friend when we are talking about belly fat, but keep in mind you will probably lose other body fat first.
A very commonly overlooked reason for storage of fat in the abdomen is stress. If you have the other two commonly known reasons in check then I cannot "stress" this enough. In today's society stress is as common as waking up in the morning, and is usually when it starts. When you become stressed the body produces a hormone called cortisol, which has a damaging effect on your metabolism and ultimately, your fat loss.
These are three common reasons for why you may have, and cannot rid yourself of this hard to lose belly fat. Not fixing this problem in the long term can lead to high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer's, but if you keep a close eye on your diet, burn some fat through exercise, and try to keep control of your stress levels you will succeed. Find avenues in which to relieve stressors, as this will put a halt to your weight loss goals even if you are doing everything else right. Eat right, get some exercise, and don't stress about it.
