Still have a baby belly after pregnancy? Looking to drop weight? Here are some thoughts and ideas on how to drop weight after pregnancy.
When my first child was born I knew intellectually that I'd still look 5-6 months pregnant after she was born but the mind plays tricks and the reality of that baby bulge was still a hard reality to accept.
Dropping weight after pregnancy and toning up that stretched out belly was a top priority but it was necessary to do this in healthy way. And in a way that made sure that the weight stayed off and most importantly that when I worked to drop weight after pregnancy that I didn't harm my baby or myself. As a nursing mom, and one who'd had a cesarean section, I had to make sure I had a nutritious diet that fed both of us and a gentle exercise plan that toned up the stomach and helped me to drop weight after pregnancy and birth, without strain.
I red books galore when I was pregnant and again when I was trying to loose that weight after pregnancy. Somethings I never forgot, and they were; C-section mothers should never lift anything heavier than your baby for 6 weeks. Don't vacumn, it's really strenuous! ( Bonus to having that baby! Dad gets to clean!) And the last one was when baby drinks, you drink. This last one helps keep you well hydrated and helps make sure of a good milk supply for your baby. After all, milk is about 80% water.
What should you eat to help drop weight after pregnancy? First remember that you need enough protein, carbohydrate, vitamins and minerals or your body and your growing baby, if you are nursing. If you weight before pregnancy was good then you need about 2200 calories if breast feeding and if not then you need a minimum of 1600 calories.
If you need to drop more weight after pregnancy because you were overweight before then first consult your doctor and then take it slowly! A very wise woman once said to me, everything in moderation. So don't be drastic in your attempt to drop weight after pregnancy, be persistant instead. Don't have that second helping right away, wait 20 minutes and the likelihood is you won't feel hungry anyway. Get up from the table when you are done and move away, go and do something else, like play with your new baby, or just stand and admire how beautiful and perfect she is, so you aren't tempted to snack at the leftovers. Drink water as you eat. Drinking with a meal helps you to hydrate, fills you up and helps digestion. Pick low fat dairy, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains and high quality, low fat protein sources, such as fish, poultry and legumes. Dropping weight after pregnancy can easily be achieved with a healthy, sustainable diet and a sensible, exercise plan. Make sure you discuss diet and exercise with your doctor. Drop weight after pregnancy sensibly, sustainably, not dramatically.
