Losing weight and working out at home.
I have been sitting in front of the television for about 15 minutes, doing the whole channel surfing thing, and in that amount of time I have seriously seen advertisements for 5 different “get fit fast plans” and products supposed to melt the weight off. It makes it hard for anyone to decide what they should do to knock off that “winter coat” or those extra pounds they want to lose. I’ve seen several, promising results in just 10 minutes a day and 3 days a week. Is it too good to be true?
I’m sure that all of us have 10 minutes a day that we could spend working out at home. The question is, “can I lose the weight and get the body I want by doing this exercise program at home”? Well, the answer is – It Depends. The key here is how bad you want it? How determined are you?
There is a lot more that goes into losing weight than just watching a video. Sitting in front of the T.V. probably had a lot to do with the situation of being overweight for a lot of us anyway. It’s really easy to say to yourself “I’ll do it later”, but for most of us later never seems to come. The biggest thing standing in the way of losing the weight and getting fit is... ourselves.
The first thing we have to do is get up and do something about it. Look in the mirror and ask “am I happy with the way I look”? Well, chances are that if you were, you wouldn’t be standing in front of a mirror asking yourself that question. So, what are you going to do about it?
Now that you are ready to do something about it, you have to decide what exactly you want to acheive. There are different exercise programs, diet plans, and products out there. Not all of them are designed to get the same results. And not all of them are completely healthy for everyone. Do you just want to lose weight or do you want to lose fat? There is a difference!
A lot of the workout programs promise you’ll lose pounds in a matter of 2-3 days. That is completely possible. However, just because the scale says that you are 2 pounds lighter doesn’t mean that you have lost that weight in fat. Chances are, the majority was water weight. On the other hand it could say that you have gained 2 pounds. And again that doesn’t mean it is fat. It’s actually common when you first begin to exercise for your weight to increase slightly (if you are staying hydrated). The reason for this is simple. Muscle weighs more than fat. Don’t be discouraged just by what the scale says. Just stay focused and continue working towards your weight loss goals. A personal trainer can help you plan the steps to losing weight getting the body you want.
