As a Zumba instructor and someone educated in the fitness world, I have enjoyed many various fitness programs, especially those by Beachbody. I am going to let you in on a little information here with my review of Turbo Fire, the new workout program by Beachbody and fitness guru Chalene Johnson.
Turbo Fire is definitely an intense workout that delivers amazing results.
It still was a challenge for me after using a number of highly intense cardio workouts.
If you are unfamiliar with Chalene's programs, she likes to use a very fast paced version of kickboxing and dance with all her cardio workouts. Each focuses more on speek and variation than just movements. None of Chalene's programs run at a steady pace. You definitely will move all over the place in order to keep your heart pumping.
The HIIT workouts that you get with Turbo Fire are amazing.
Each are choreographically simple, yet very good for shaping up the body. Each workout mostly consists of 30 to 60 second intervals of plyometric and anaerobic movements followed by equal intervals for rest for the duration of the routine.
Although Chalene goes into these exercises without a great deal of instruction, there is a beginner class that explains the movements that should be watched first. It will help in teaching basic form for all the workouts.
The beginner class which is called "New to Class" will allow you to pause for each choreographed interval and walk through the movements at a slow pace. It's a huge bonus.
A definite big plus with this workout routine is that it is very planned. You start easy, and then ramp it up. However, easy might somewhat of a lenient word considering that nothing about this program is relatively easy. Chalene lets you avoid having the most strenuous workouts on sequential days and shuffles around the resistance muscle toning work once you have made it through the first month.
I absolutely love this set up because it gives you a nice goal to look forward to.
After buying Turbo Fire and exercising, my body feels great. My moods have even been better.
If you can do 30 minutes of high impact cardio for at least three times a week, then you can do Turbo Fire. Being that you are running and jumping a lot in this program, I woudln't neccessarily recommend it to someone that has knee, hip, or other bad joint problems.
It is important also while doing this program that you work at your own pace. In fact, Chalene highly encourages it. If you normally do not practice cardio to begin with, then you may need to start out a little slower than most. There are ways in which you can modify the movements so that you can do them safely until your conditioning improves.
All in all, I love this program and find it one of the best out there.
