There are many fad diets out there, but the question is… are they safe? Some sound advice from medical practitioners such as doctors and nutrionists-dietiticians suggest the following to ensure safe weight loss.
1. Consume more fruits and vegetables. Your mom told you this statement once or twice during your childhood, but mommy is right, eating an abundant servings of fruits and vegetables can do wonders for your body. They provide vitamins and minerals and can supply you much energy without feeling bloated.
2. Eat your meals on time. This also means that skipping meals and starving yourself won’t help you lose weight. If breakfast is served at around 7am, eat breakfast within that time and so on for the rest of the meals. Snacking in between meals of course with fruits and or veggies is recommended.
3. Switch to low fat foods. Don’t wait until your cholesterol levels are high. Avoid fatty foods as much as you can. Yes, fatty foods like fries are undeniably delicious, but think of the long term effects of indulging yourself with such foods. Dining out very often in fast foods is the culprit for feasting on unhealthy fatty foods. As an option, you could prepare your meals so that you could control how much fat you put into your food. Canola oil, olive oil and corn oil are good low cholesterol oils that can be used for cooking.
4. Eat whole grains. You can eat cereals and oat meal for breakfast. Brown rice and whole wheat breads can also be part of your lunch or dinner. Whole grains provide fiber that can clean toxins from your body as they provide roughage, that act like brooms that clears and detoxify your colon. A good amount of fiber is your key to safe weight loss.
5. Eat more lean white meats rather than red meats. White meats like chicken breast and fish can provide the same amount of protein. These are easier to digest than red meats. Plus, there have been studies that red meats are carcinogens.
6. Have the right amount of sleep. Safe weight loss can be achieved if your body is well rested and does not miss out on sleep. People who lack sleep tend to over eat.
7. The most frequently asked question… are diet pills safe weight loss method? Well, I would not recommend taking diet pills as these are still considered as medications. And medicines can be pose harmful effects on the liver. They can also sometimes cause palpitations and foul odors on your excretions.
