Lose Fat Fast

Not so long ago, 'alkaline' and 'acid' were words I associated with Science lessons at school. Just over twelve months ago I was overweight, unhappy and searching for a solution to my unhealthy lifestyle.  Now all that has changed! 

I was chatting to a health-conscious friend and he recommended I read some of the material written by Dr Robert  O Young about changing my diet in such a way that it would bring my body's internal chemistry back into balance.  I'm afraid I couldn't wait for my copy of 'The pH Miracle for Weight Loss'  to arrive through the post and began to find out as much as I could from the internet.  I discovered that the body uses fat to deal with the acid products of digestion.  If the products of digestion are more alkaline in their pH, then the fat is not needed and so disappears.  Less fat would equal a slimmer me.  How soon could I start making the changes?

The very next day I started to alter the way that I ate.  Gone were the ready-meals, the crusty bread smothered in butter and the enormous quantities of alcohol that I had become accustomed to consuming on a daily basis. I began by cutting out all wheat and most other grains from my diet, switching to dairy substitutes, and drinking only herbal teas or water. 

Although I was already eating a mainly vegetarian diet, the ability to cut out cheese was something that concerned me.  I loved cheeses.  Dutch cheese, French cheese, American cheese, Swiss cheese, English cheese and above all the delicious crumbly Orkney cheese that my aunt would send at Christmas time.  However, I was pleasantly surprised.  The cravings for cheese that I had anticipated never appeared - perhaps as a result of a small amount of goats cheese being permissable according to my research.

The other major obstacle I thought might be the no-alcohol regime.  However the desire to lose myself in a hazy stupour, to forget how unhappy I was, was soon replaced by a longing for the increasing vitality and sense of well-being that I was becoming accustomed to.

The first major change that I noticed was with my hair.  This was the marker I had been looking for - the outward sign that told me something was changing inside my body.  Since having my children some 13 years previously, I had suffered with the continual loss of what seemed like handfuls of hair every time I washed it.  Fortunately this was never enough to make thinning an issue, but it was still concerning.  Just one week after making my diet more alkaline, I was able to wash my hair and find, not the mess  I had been accustomed to, but only a few stray hairs left in the basin.

Spurred on by this indication of something different happening in my body, I continued to try to follow a more alkaline regime, eating mainly vegetables with  occassional oily fish or goats cheese to ring the changes.  As well as the herbal teas, I was now adding organic wheatgrass powder to my water.  Wheatgrass is one of nature's superfoods, full of an amazing number of nutrients that are said to benefit the body. In my opinion, it neither looks good in water, nor smells particularly appealing, and the taste is not great to begin with, but eventually ................. it becomes palatable.  And after all, if it's doing you good it's worth the effort of trying to drink it!

The result of all this effort?  The pounds began to drop away!  The amazing thing was that I was eating quite enormous quantities of food, in my opinion.  I seldom felt hungry and I was being rewarded with a body which was becoming slimmer, and a sense of vitality that had been absent for some years. 

I made my own path through changing to a more alkaline way of eating, but losing 35 lbs in three months and keeping it off, has convinced me that balancing your body chemistry to acheive your ideal weight makes sense and, what's more, gets results.
