If you have a small salad as a starter before your main meal you will be able to cut down your portion sizes considerably without feeling hungry. It is important that you do not cover the salad in dressing as even the slimmers versions tend to have quite high amounts of calories. If you really cant eat salad without a dressing put a small amount into a dish beside your plate in order to control how much of it you consume.
Try and eat more fish in your diet. Fish such as salmon, tuna and herring are high in omega-3 which helps to increase the amount of leptin in your system which is acknowledged as being a natural hunger suppressant.
Fresh fruit such as apples are excellent for weight loss. Although apples are not particularly low in calories they require quite a lot of chewing and a substantial amount of the calories are actually used up whilst the apple is being eaten. They also contain a lot of soluble fibre and pectin which help to make you feel full and boost your energy levels.
Drink large amounts of water, it contains no calories at all and is an excellent hunger suppressant and is an ideal substitute for colas and fizzy drinks.
