So you've decided to start a workout program, whether you are going for that ripped look, or just a nice toned look. The question on everybody's mind is "how to lose body fat fast". Don't get confused, losing body fat is a whole different issue to losing weight. You see when you are losing weight, not only are you dropping body fat but you are also potentially losing muscle mass or lean muscle tissue (in some cases also water). When wanting to lose body fat and avoid that dreaded skinny-fat look, your main concern should be to maintain as much of your muscle mass as possible, while losing as much body fat as you can. Now without the correct knowledge, doing this isn't the easiest thing to do. To help I've put together a list of the top 4 tips to help you on your way
I cannot stress this fact enough, you NEED to make sure that your meal plan or diet is full of protein. Protein is the ultimate ingredient involved in building and maintain your muscle mass, it also has the highest fat burning effect of any food. Depending on your body weight, you should be aiming to eat a protein source with each meal.
When wanting to lose body fat, forget about hitting the treadmill everyday. You will need to create (and stick to) a regular strength training workout routine. Following a strength training workout is going to help build your muscle but also prevent as much muscle loss as possible. Your weekly workout routine should involve more weights than cardio. One of my personal favorite weekly splits to try are; Monday - Back/Biceps, Wednesday - Chest/Triceps and Friday - Legs/Shoulders Following a weight training program is also going to boost your metabolism, therefore burning more fat.
Believe it or not, fats don't actually make you fat. Everybody needs to have fat in their diet and they can even be good for you, you just need to know which ones to avoid. Monounsaturated fats as well as Polyunsaturated fats are actually good for you, they both lower your cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease. When looking at the fat content in foods, you want to make sure it is either the monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats, the fats that you need to keep away from are saturated fats. Saturated fats are the ones that higher your cholesterol.
To lose body fat fast, a very important key is to eat more meals. It sounds stupid doesn't it? Many people say to me "I need to eat less because I want to lose fat, not gain it!". This couldn't be further from the truth. Instead of eating the traditional breakfast, lunch and dinner aim to have at least 6 meals throughout your day, 3 hours apart. When I say eat more, I don't mean to go out and eat junk food all the time. You want to be eating lots of protein sources and healthy foods, for example my six meals normally consist of either; fish, steak, chicken, vegetables, beef or pasta (which are all very tasty). Eating more is going to help maintain your muscle, but also boost your metabolism to burn more fat.
These are by far the most important 4 factors to lose body fat fast. Try by implementing them into your week, track your results for the first month and see how you are progressing. Trust me you won't be disappointed.
