Do you think that going to the gym or running is the best exercise to lose weight? Most people believe the same thing. However, when I was overweight the thought of running or doing a 'work out' was horrendous. This is why so many people give up early on. I tried all of that so many times but I always gave up. So about a year ago I ditched all of the no pain no gain nonsense and just start walking. The results were truly amazing!
It makes me a little sick now when I see all these pumped up weight loss gurus telling us ordinary people to go for a run and 'work out'. How can you be expected to go from doing nothing to working out and running straight away? What do they know about people losing weight anyway? They have probably never carried an extra pound of weight in their life.
Their advise is often totally unrealistic. In just the same way that starving yourself to lose weight has a one percent success rate going to the gym or running has an equally low success rate. It's just too hard therefore it doesn't work.
I was caught up in all of this too. I started out at the gym and or running so many times. But when you are quite unfit or busy or stressed the last thing you want to do is go to the gym or go for a run. It is so utterly unappealing.
I decided to start out with just fifteen minutes walking a day and I slowly increased it to one hour. It was so easy. I stick on my walking shoes and take stroll for an hour.It was definately the best exercise to lose weight I have ever done.
I was able to collect my thoughts for the day and so walking was far more therapeutic than going to the gym or running. I could take my time and breathe in the fresh air. Sometimes I would jog a little bit then walk then jog a little bit.
The main point is just to take it completely at you own pace. The best exercise to lose weight is one that you enjoy and that you do not fear or dread. If you are dreading going for that run or going to the gym it won't work. Only one percent of people have the will power to succeed doing those things.
Really for me walking is totally the best exercise to lose weight. It is easy. You don't need any special equipment. You don't need to pay for a membership anywhere and you can always find the time to do it. Whether you do it four times a day for fifteen minutes each time or for a whole hour you can find the time.
Go ahead and start walking. I promise you will see why it is the best exercise to lose weight in no time at all.
