I understand where you are coming from I am a bit of a couch potato guy. I work at a computer. So I am sitting about all day. I was carrying about thirty five excess pounds and wanted to shift them. No way was I gonna run five miles a day or suddenly go from eating pizza to eating rabbit food. My plan was to make it as easy as possible for myself. I didn't want to starve myself or have to strain myself. So I came up with a genius plan. Guess what it worked! Here Are My Tips on How To Diet For Couch Potatoes
Baby Steps (tips on how to diet for couch potatoes 1 )
You know how you struggle to get off the couch right? Well why try and go running then? Its about as silly as asking George Bush to do a crossword puzzle. Impossible right? Lets face it though you will need to get off the couch for a bit. You can't expect to shift a few pounds without moving at all. Sorry to tell you that but it's true.
What I did was I went for a walk each day. Yes just a simple walk. I even started off with just ten minutes to get myself used to it. Do you think you could start with just ten minutes walk? I think you could.
The second week I increased it a bit then the third week a bit more and so on. Before I knew it I was walking for an hour a day. I felt so much better just from doing that. The secret was that I never did anything that felt like a strain I only increased the walk time when I felt like it.
I applied the same idea to what I was eating. I started off with a smoothie for breakfast. That was the only thing I changed. I Just thought I would add one healthy meal in there. A week later I changed my lunch to something more healthy. I had a salad. I'm not talking limp lettuce and a half tomato. I had a big bowl of crunchy lettuce with onion, tomato, cucumber, shredded carrot and half or even a whole can of tuna. I couldn't believe how nice it was.
Then when I felt ready I changed my dinner too. Instead of take out or a microwave meal I had some lean meat and stir fried vegetables. What amazed me most was how easy it was to do all of these meals. The key for me was definitely doing it one step at a time. Easy does it remember!
Think Ahead - (tips on how to diet for couch potatoes 2)
The other part of my plan was to think ahead. Thinking long term made me see the point of making small changes. If I had been rushing everything I would have given up. I would not be able to see the point in the baby steps way. Also because I was thinking into the future I was able to see where I would be in six months or a year. There was no rush. It was a total no pressure situation. You don't want pressure right? Exactly just think long term and take it easy. You can still spend ten hours on the couch every day. Just spend one hour walking and slowly introduce the correct food and its a done deal!
