"It sounds kinda funny," Richard Langdon says, "but I was sitting on the couch and looked down and noticed I had a stomach and never really had that before." At that point, Langdon was already close to exceeding the maximum weight limit for the military, and he was watching guys nearly 10 years older than him beat him in physical tests.

 

"One of the hardest things was being only 26 and having people older than I am run faster than I was running and do a lot more than I was able to do," he says. "Looking at somebody 33 or 35 putting out more than me was like a smack in the face."

 

So Langdon decided to try the Abs Diet, ate the Powerfoods, used smoothies to satisfy sweet cravings, and worked out. He dropped weight—but the biggest thing he noticed was his energy level.

 

"I wasn't really tired anymore. Before, I’d get up at 6, and around 10:30 or 11, I’d get real tired, get something to eat, sit in my office and basically want to fall asleep at my desk," he says. "Since I lost the weight, I get up at 4, go all day long without any problems until I go to bed at 8 or 9 at night. I have more energy."

 

Since then, he’s noticed a difference in not only his physical-test scores but also his self-esteem. ("I love to work out now; it’s like a religion.") But his biggest surprise was that his total-body change even included his taste buds.

 

"I don’t miss the sweets and the junk food," he says. "I really don’t miss it. It sounds weird, but I crave vegetables now the same way I used to crave a Snickers or can of soda."
