Been tethered to a desk job for far too long?

Jeff Janovetz, all 6'3" and 315 pounds of him, has been working as a web developer for the last 10 years. "This just means that I've been sitting on my butt in front of a computer screen for the better part of a decade," says Jeff.

Of course, it wasn't always like this. Jeff's an athletic guy, playing football in high school – and having delusions he'd be motivated to stay in shape even when Coach wasn't having him run sprints. Things got worse in August when he quit smoking (good), but quickly put on an additional 40 pounds (bad). Jeff says, "I have an uncanny ability to let life distract me from taking care of myself. The biggest problem for me is making bad food choices when I'm eating on the fly."

Craig Ballantyne, C.S.C.S., now has him planning his meals for the week ahead. "Eating is constantly in the back of my mind," says Jeff. "I'm now thinking about what I'm actually eating. Since I'm eating six times a day, I haven't been hungry yet. My mental-alertness and energy levels have been through the roof."

Jeff's also received a lot of early feedback and support from his blog; people he hasn't talked to in years have contacted him. His father's keeping close tabs on his progress, as are his children. "My kids have stepped up big time ... even helping out more around the house. That's something that never happened before. I'm glad I've got their support ... but I hope none of them ever have to go through this."
