While knowing what foods to eat and what foods to avoid is good, it is better if you have a diet plan in place. Ideally, you should consult a nutritionist who will be able to suggest a diet plan customised according to your needs. However, here are some pointers that you can use.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and don’t skip it at any cost. Try and avoid including ghee, butter and oil in your dishes. If you want to eat aloo paratha, then put in other vegetables too. You can also eat idli, dosa and utappa if you are from south India, but avoid eating medu vada as that is fried.
For lunch, have a proper meal consisting of roti and some amount of rice, along with vegetables. Also, try and include sources of protein like dal, curd, sprouts, fish, egg, chicken, etc. Make sure you avoid pickles and papad. If you feel hungry in the evening or late afternoon, you can eat dry fruits, seasonal fruits or roasted channa. As for dinner, include sources of carbohydrates and proteins just like lunch, but try not to overeat.
