Have you been trying to lose weight, but ended up disappointed since those treatments and diets didn’t work? Practise surya namaskar or sun salutation for a complete body workout and lose weight in no time. This ancient practice of worshipping the rising sun can have that impact on your body where months of dieting cannot have. From boosting your metabolism to toning your body, surya namaskar has many benefits provided you perform it in the right way. Here is how you can practice surya namaskar the right way.
How does it work?
It is a set of 12 postures performed at a fast pace, preferably early in the morning, which can give you a good cardio workout helping you burn calories. When done at a slower pace, these 12 postures help tone muscles of the quadriceps, back and upper body and can be very relaxing. According to yoga expert Sunaina Rekhi, eighteen minutes of sun salutation done at a fast pace can burn up to 250 calories and can help you lose up to 2 kg in a month depending on your weight.
Tips:
Begin with a set of 5 surya namaskars at the beginning and then increase it to ten and more depending on your flexibility and stamina. Before you start with the sun salutation, do some stretches to ease out body stiffness. Relax or cool down after performing the asana. Also, make sure that you perform it on an empty stomach.
