Anyone trying to lose weight will tell you that the biggest struggle they face is trying to reduce their meal portions. After all, the lesser calories you consume, the easier it is to keep your weight in check. Obviously, that is easier said than done. You will want to eat, especially during breakfast, lunch and dinner at least, until you feel full and satisfied. However, researchers from the University of Birmingham have a found way to trick your body into thinking it is full, which will make you consume lesser food than usual.
Just have 500 ml of water at least 30 minutes before your meals to lose weight [1]! Did you know, drinking water in a copper vessel is beneficial? If you’re wondering how this can yield results, continue reading. In this study, that was published in the journal Obesity in August, 2015, around 84 obese adult people had participated. They were divided into two randomized control trial groups. One group was asked to drink 500 ml of water 30 minutes before their main meals while the other group, consisting of 41 obese participants, were asked to merely imagine that their stomachs were full before meal time. Their results were then followed up after a 12 weeks long period.
It was found that the 43 obese adults in the group that was made to drink 500 ml of water before their main meals had lost 1.3 kg in just 12 weeks. This means, if you’re already dieting and exercising to lose weight, this habit will only accelerate your weight loss process. While following this tip remember not to have that much water right before your meals because it could lead to a spike in your blood sugar levels, other than digestive problems. Here’s why drinking water only when you are thirsty is bad for you.
