They were then simultaneously given acupuncture treatment on their abdomen and lower legs. Each acupuncture treatment lasted for 20 minutes and was given twice a week for around six weeks. This was done by a specialized acupuncturist. While they didn’t receive any acupuncture treatment for the next six weeks, they were asked to continue with their restricted diet of 1000 k/calories per day. After this period of 12 weeks, it was found that there were significant changes in the participants’ body weight.
