Are Carrots Good for Your Eyes?

Carrots contain beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A. Vitamin A is essential for healthy vision, and a deficiency in this nutrient can lead to night blindness and other vision problems. Vitamin A also helps to protect the cornea, which is the clear outer layer of the eye, from damage.

While carrots are a good source of beta-carotene, it is important to note that they are not the only food source of this nutrient. Other orange and yellow fruits and vegetables, such as sweet potatoes, pumpkin, and apricots, are also good sources of beta-carotene. Additionally, dark leafy greens, such as spinach and kale, are also good sources of vitamin A.

Eating a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can help to ensure that you are getting the nutrients you need for healthy vision. If you are concerned about your vision, talk to your doctor or an optometrist.
