Ingredients
- Salmon fillet (skinned and boned)
- Olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Optional seasonings (e.g., lemon juice, herbs like dill or parsley)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) for baking or 350°F (175°C) for roasting.
2. Rinse the salmon fillet and pat it dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
3. Season the salmon with salt and pepper on both sides.
4. Brush a baking dish or sheet pan with olive oil and place the salmon fillet skin-side down (if it has skin).
5. Drizzle the salmon with a little more olive oil.
6. Add any desired seasonings, such as lemon juice, herbs, or spices, on top of the salmon.
7. Bake the salmon in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until it is cooked through. The exact cooking time will depend on the thickness of the fillet. Salmon is cooked through when the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
8. Let the salmon rest for a few minutes before serving.
Tips
- To ensure even cooking, use a thermometer to check the internal temperature of the salmon. It should reach 145°F (63°C) when measured from the thickest part of the fish.
- For added flavor, you can marinate the salmon in your preferred mixture of herbs, spices, and liquids for several hours or overnight before cooking it.
- Salmon can also be cooked by poaching, grilling, or pan-frying. Adjust the cooking time accordingly for the chosen method.
- Serve salmon with your favorite sides such as roasted vegetables, rice, or a salad.
