OVEN BACON
Bacon
Heavy duty foil
Large sheet pan
Oven
Line a rimmed baking sheet with heavy foil and arrange the bacon slices in a single layer side by side. A 12-ounce package will just fit on a 17x12" pan. Place in the oven, preheated to 375-400?or somewhere in between. Bake about 15-20 minutes or until the bacon is nice and brown but watch closely after about 10 minutes because it will go from brown to burnt very quickly. I made thin bacon so thick bacon will probably take a bit longer. I rotated the pan every five minutes but I didn't flip the bacon at all. I didn't use a rack to cook mine because I didn't want to have to clean it. The bacon came out great baked in it's own fat. The texture was almost like it had been deep-fried and practically melted in my mouth.
I normally micowave my bacon but I've wanted to try this method for long time and never got around to it. I don't think I'll use the microwave ever again to cook bacon. The microwave seems to make bacon come out tough and it doesn't have that fried flavor that you get from the oven. I did two packages of bacon and the second package cooked about 5 minutes quicker than the first batch because the pan was still hot. The best thing about this way of making bacon is the cleanup. There is none! Click the photo to see a close-up (if you dare).
