Why Does Alcohol Make You Pee?

Alcohol inhibits the production of vasopressin, a hormone that helps the kidneys reabsorb water. This causes the kidneys to produce more urine, which leads to dehydration and the need to urinate more frequently.

Alcohol also increases the production of ADH (antidiuretic hormone), which helps the kidneys reabsorb water. However, alcohol also inhibits the release of ADH from the pituitary gland, which means that the kidneys are unable to reabsorb as much water as they should. This leads to dehydration and the need to urinate more frequently.

Finally, alcohol can irritate the bladder, which can also lead to the need to urinate more frequently.
