QuestionWeight Loss for Idiots online diet has been doing the rounds - is it genuine / do-able / effective / healthy? Or maybe just a scam?
Mant thanks.
AnswerDear Vanessa,
It's certainly "do-able" but as to being genuine, it depends on definition. The rotation idea looks rational but rotating calories makes me wonder. It is a disguised form of calorie restriction and I know too many scientific facts against such an approach to long-term body weight control.
I know that there should be no hunger on any diet otherwise the body takes its own measures to preserve what energy depots it possesses - slowing down the metabolic rate is most unpleasant because it feels as sluggishness, lack of energy, cravings, etc.
I know excellent results on very low calorie diets but the decrease of calorie intake there comes as a kind of side effect of whole health systems that include mental conditioning as well as subjecting the body to extreme physical conditions, e.g., ice water swimming, jogging several miles instead of breakfast, etc.
So I think it can be worth trying for a short period of time but with some scepticism on the long run.
