I am about to start it and wanted your opinion on what you thought on the incorporation of these food items. 1)Raw Honey-A.V. says to have a t least 1 cup a day and it heals nerves 2) celtic sea salt -A.V. says no to salt. 3) water- A.V. is unclear to me on this...what is your recommendation He says to have fish 3 times a day ( Mostly swordfish)Do you have any yummy ways to prepare the swordfish cause it is not the best tasting . He said to have beef every third day to heal my eyes. I have optic nueritis . And to also have butter and cream daily. He said ,no juicing! Why no juicing do you think?? Can you give me a thoriogh opinion on these and his regimen outlined.
AnswerI've already answered some of these questions in the last answer I've just given. So I'll just stick to answering the new ones you've posed, here:-
Re fish:- That's a shame - I love raw swordfish on its own! And have done so right from the very start of this diet. However, for you I would suggest the following:- Marinate the swordfish in freshly-squeezed lemon-juice for 8 to 24 hours, add a few spcies(eg:- pepper?) and you'll then have a "swordfish ceviche". Some of those very new to rawpalaeodiets have claimed that these marinated fish taste more similiar to cooked-fish, so find them easier to eat, initially.
If you're ever having trouble re adjusting to a raw animal food diet, you could do this:- lightly cook the relevant meat you don't like in raw form , add some processed sauces - then, after you've got used to each stage, you reduce the cooking temperature by 1 degree Celsius/Fahrenheit and reduce the amount of processed sauces(either adding raw spices or not) - eventually, after a set period of days/weeks/months of this practice, you should be able to easily handle the taste of the raw meat at room-temperature.
Obviously, it's a good idea to have as varied a diet as possible. When I first started, I would look around for exotic foods such as goatmeat(very pungent in taste!) or water-buffalo meat etc.Organ-meats(ie heart/liver/kidney/tongue/marrow/suet/brains etc.) are also highly recommended - it's commonly reported among RPDers that including raw organ-meats in the diet speeds up the health-recovery-rate).
What I found at the start of the diet was that c.97% of all the meats I bought tasted terrible, at first, due to my previous cooked-food habits and conditioning. However, I would buy small amounts of dozens of different varieties of raw meat, raw fish and raw shellfish, in order to find that elsuive 3% I really liked. Then, I gradually got used to the diet, and I started liking an increasingly higher proportion of the raw-animal-foods I'd previously disliked, so that I was no longer anywhere as fussy as before.
Re beef:- I have no idea why beef would be considered good for the eyes. At any rate, dairy has been often cited by rawpalaeodieters in the various Yahoo groups as causing minor problems re vision(myself included), and that's not the only health-related problem it can cause.
Likely the best thing for the eyes, is to ensure decent levels of fat-intake(the eyes are made up of fat, after all). My personal preference, re fat-intake, is for marrow and tongue, but others go for muscle-meat-fat or suet etc. Also, there has been some scientific literature which links excessive carb-consumption to poor eyesight(bread-consumption is largely blamed, but I would assume that eating too high a percentage of carbs would be a bad idea).
Re no juicing:- I think Aajonus recommends no juicing for the moment, presumably because you've just come out of a vegan diet, so that your body has had quite enough nutrients from plants.
In this case, I'd have to agree. A number of RPDers have reported side-effects from long-term juiced-veg consumption and it's been suggested that this might be due to the increased levels of antinutrients found in the veggie-juice. At any rate, I experienced poor absorption of veggie-juice(ie instant diarrhea) in my own short-lived experiment with it, and regained my health without needing to drink the stuff, so I don't view it as a necessary food.
