Raw, unheated honey

Question
After reading the Primal Diet book, I am interested in trying raw, unheated honey.  As I live in Southern California, it seems to me that some of the benefits of raw, unheated honey would be more effective if the honey is from the area.  Is https://www.honeypacifica.com/coldpacked.htm a true raw, unheated honey?  Is it subjected to refrigeration (the Primal Diet book states that honey should not be refrigerated at under 45 degrees F).  Do you have any recommendations for raw, unheated honey in the Southern California area?  Thank you very much, and thank you for your time.

Answer
I live in the UK, so I can't possibly give you very  accurate information re   raw honey products  in California. What I can do is point you to 2 particular Yahoo groups where you'll be likely to get very good information as to what's the best raw honey in California. The 2 groups are livefood Yahoo Group which has some Primal-Diet members(but is not linked directly to the Primal Diet, and the Primal Diet Yahoo Group. The 2nd Primal Diet group is by far the best place for asking about PD-approved raw honey and you're most likely to get a response there - the catch is that it's a closed group so, in order to join it, you have to send an e-mail to this e-mail-address, below, to join(state in the e-mail that you've read Aajonus' book(s),that you're  doing the Primal Diet  and why you wish to join the group(or, alternatively, I suppose  you could post on my rawpaleodiet Yahoo group as a few of the members of the Primal Diet group are on mine as well):-

As for finding whether  the raw honey is really raw, not prefrozen or heated/processed in some way, the only genuinely reliable way to find out is to actually visit the place which some Primal Dieters do - there have been  a number of cases, where a particular honey was sold as raw  and/or organic  when it really wasn't - and, some companies can chnage their methods re beekeeping over the years, re use/non-use of pesticides etc., so it pays to be careful.

That said, I've just checked the Primal Diet group on its main website  for any past messages to "Honey Pacifica", and most mentions of the company are glowingly complimentary - Jon C Fox,the owner of the list, claims to have personally visited the company's site re inspection, and says the honey's genuinely  unheated(below 93 degrees Fahrenheit) and that no pesticides, such as "Alar", are used.  There's no actual mention of  Honey Pacifica's honey re the particular issue of refrigeration, though, so you'd have to ask on the PD Yahoo Group  re further info on that subject. But, since the Honey Pacifica website mentions that it's endorsed by Aajonus Vonderplanitz himself, it looks rather likely that it's perfectly fine.

Really Raw honey and YS Honey have also been mentioned on the Primal Diet list-group  as equal (Californian) alternatives to Honey Pacifica.  You'd have to ask fellow Californians on those groups I mentioned, re further Primal-Diet-approved raw honey brands in the area.
