QuestionChef Jenny
A few weeks ago I cut out dairy products and noticed health benefits right away-less gas, bloating.
Shortly after I cut out butter, trimmed the fat off my steak and bought lean ground beef-and I am finally losing weight.
I dont want to become a vegetarian, but would it be healthy to cut out red meat altogether? Or at least switch to low fat meats?
Can you give me some guidance on what to purchase at the grocery store?
AnswerBarry- Great job- it's great to see how quickly the body reacts when we let go of things that we don't need. As far as meat is concerned I recommend giving it up all together- especially considering your great results after giving up cheese. If you really want to hang on to the meat- I recommend nothing but fish - fresh fish- salmon is one of the better ones- of course you should be careful to not intake too much as fish is high in mercury. If you are looking to give it up all together and switch to a vegetarian diet I recommend starting by focusing on fresh whole foods- that would be fruits, vegetables, dark leafy greens, beans and rice versus tofu substitutes. etc. Your choice would have to depend on why you are choosing to keep the meat in your diet. Most people I have worked with are amazed at how good hey feel on a vegetarian diet when they do it right- 80% living foods, 20 % foods like beans, rice, and other whole proteins like quinoa, etc.- May you enjoy vibrant health- Peace and Blessings
