QuestionHey again. At the gym, the body fat calculator said i was like 22% I think. I take Ortho-Tri Cyclen birth control pills, and that is the only med I take. Would that have some type of effect?

Hello. I am 5'7 and I weigh 137 lbs. I am looking to loose 12-15 lbs. I have been working out about 5x a week since Jan. and I haven't seen much results. I have been considering trying Ephedra-free Hydroxycut. I was wondering if that would be an ok thing to do, b/c i have heard some bad things about once you get off pills like that, etc. Thanks!

Hi Lauren,
Here's the short answer to your question. The backing research and details are in my article published by Diet and Body (http://dietandbody.com/Hydroxycut.html)
Generally, it's OK. It doesn't seem to do anything wrong to your body when you take Hydroxycut or after you go off the pill, not even does it make you gain weight faster after you stop taking Hydroxycut. However, there are things to consider before you put all your hopes on it.
1. Though generally efficient, it seems to be less efficient in the case of losing "the last pounds." The more excess body fat, the better it works. Your weight doesn't look too excessive but you might want to estimate your body fat % (it's free, in the article at dietandbody.com/Hydroxycut.html you'll find downloadable fat % calculator and, by the way, fitness calculator)
2. The manufacturers issued the following warning: don't use it if you have high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias, heart, liver, kidney, or psychiatric disease, stroke, angina, diabetes, asthma, nervousness, anxiety, depression, seizure disorder, peptic ulcers, or if you are using any prescription or over-the-counter drug, or if you are sensitive to the effects of caffeine.
3. I recommend that you take the time to read more about Ephedra-free Hydroxycut and its active ingredients.
Good luck!

AnswerOk. Your case seems to be the one of decreased efficiency due to your low body fat % (women should have fat % between 18 and 25.) So, the Garcinia part will not necessarily work for you. What's left is the green tea ingredient.
Why wouldn't you try a green tea plan of some sort. There are companies offering free trials, e.g. green tea-based trans-dermal diet patches or, you might want to try our f'ree Green Tea Day Plan (find it at http://dietandbody.com/green_tea.html) - no supplements to buy but a box of green tea bags of your favorite flavor.
As to the birth control pills, I failed finding direct contra indications in Hydroxycut and its ingredients medical data.
