QuestionHi,
I recently started a low carb diet. I've not gone totally "Atkins"...I'm just avoiding the refined carbs like white bread mostly, potatoes, snacks, sweets, etc... I'm eating the low carb products they have available on the market, like the low carb whole wheat bread, low carb yogurt, eating lots of veggies/fruits, lean meat, etc...I'm also taking that new vitamin by One a Day "CarbSmart". I believe I'm headed in the right direction. The only thing I won't give up is a few sugar packets in my coffee! lol artifical sweeteners don't taste the same to me. How long does it usually take to see weightloss results? How many net carbs should a person eat per day on this type of diet? I'm an average weight for my body type, but want to lose about 15-20 pounds. I'm a very active person, but don't exercise at a gym and such. I do a lot of gardening, outdoor work, and I'm the person "always on the go", so I don't want to over do it. If you could answer my few questions above, and have any extra tips on low carb dieting, that would be great...
Thank You!
Julanne
AnswerJulanne,
You are headed in the right direction if you are losing weight and feeling good. So you question about seeing weight loss results is answered. If you don't see them then you are not getting there.
The fact you can't give up the sugar can signify that your cravings are not managed well, and this means that you are not on THE low carb diet you really need.
Regarding your physical activities: it's a serious business and your attitude to 'not over do it' can deprive you from many benefits of PROPER exercising. For one thing, at your current rather high carb intake, you would definitely benefit from persistent weight training. Of course you do burn the fat just being active but you are not improving your cardio fitness and without, you can't do high-intensity intervals that are the best in fat burning that lasts long after you stopped moving.
I hope this helps
