QuestionDr. Zilberter,
I have read several articles about feeding kids with cow磗 milk but recent news show a very bad propaganda on this item. There also exists plenty on the advantages of breast feeding. The other day I read an article related to progesterone. What is it exactly? Does this help indeed to develop strong bones? I understood that this is closely related to steroids? where?
What about calcium? does it exist any other source for Vitamin D?
What could be done if :
1. An executive woman needs to continue working in an office which gives very little time to exercise the breast feeding.
2. In a country with cold weather (long winter) there isn磘 enough time to sun exposure.
I appreciate very much your help.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Phillips
AnswerDear Mrs. Phillips,
Part of your question relates to breastfeeding management rather than nutritional advantages, which I see many versus none of cons. I can only tell you that I nursed all my three sons being first a PhD student, then an executive woman. I milked in the morning and my babies were bottle-fed on my milk. BTW, it's good for your own health, too.
Progesteron is a natural hormone with rising, cycling or declining levels in the blood depending on ones puberty, menstrual cycle, pregnancy, nursing, or menopause.
Sunlight. In Russian where I'm from, they offered UV lamp treatments with special spectrum safe for babies. Ask you pediatrician whether it's possible or advisable to arrange or purchase such a lamp.
Hope this helps but if it's no, please feel free contacting me.
