Questionhello. I was wondering what would you consider gives more value or is more effective, what works best, mis opinion, etc etc.
I am taking a spoonful of brewers yeast and bran taking this versus just a vitamin b-complex supplement, which would you consider best and justify?
Thank you for your time!
AnswerDear Michael,
Brewer's yeast is an ancient remedy for many sytress-related ailments as well as immune system supporter. Same can be said for the group B vitamins, minus the "ancient" part.
Brewer's yeast is a rich source of minerals (particularly chromium), protein, amino acids, and enzymes - plus to the B-complex vitamins. It's important to mention that 90% of Americans don't get enough chromium.
Here's the complete list of nutrients in 1 rounded tablespoon of Brewer's yeast.
Calories: 35
Protein: 8 g
Thiamin: 1.4 mg
Riboflavin: 0.7 mg
Niacin: 5.3 mg
Vitamin B6: 0.6g
Folic Acid: 240 mcg
Vitamin B12: 2 mcg
Biotin: 16 mcg
Pantothenic Acid: 0.4 mg
Calcium: 59 mg
Iron: 1.5 mg
Phosphorus: 234 mg
Magnesium: 33 mg
Zinc: 1.2 mg
Copper: 0.5 mg
Manganese: 0.13 mg
Chromium: 60 mcg
Sodium: 60 mg
Potassium: 222 mg
Alanine: 592 mg
Arginine: 464 mg
Aspartic Acid: 880 mg
Glutamic: 1120 mg
Glycine: 400 mg Histidine: 208 mg
Isoleuine: 400 mg
Cystine: 112 mg
Leucine: 694 mg
Lysine: 592 mg
Methionine: 144 mg
Phenylalanine: 368 mg
Proline: 400 mg
Theronine: 400 mg
Serine: 448 mg
Tyrptophan: 96 mg
Tyosine: 304 mg
Valine: 480 mg
So, considering the effect of synergy known for many natural combinations of macro- and micronutrients, Brewer's yeast looks better to me than the vitamin pill. Notwithstanding, there can be conditions where the higher vitamin concentration are wanted, in some cases doctors prescribe even intramuscular injections. Also, you cant get enough of vitamin B12 with Brewer's yeast.
Hope it helps,
