QuestionHi
I heard that if i make chemical diet for 3 days i'll loose 3 kg
can you tell me about this diet?
and its advantages and disadvantages?
Thanx
AnswerThere is no commonly agreed upon definition of "chemical diet". Some call this "chemical diet" various forms of restrictive very low calorie diets (the 3-day, etc.)
I found the following (mysterious for me) assessment:
"The chemical diet: allows for the incomplete oxidation of food, as well as creating unwelcome byproducts such as beta hydroxic protereic acid and acetone. These are dangerous, with the attendant risk of damage to brain cells and even the stopping of the heart and the kidneys."
In academic publications, this term is sometimes used to describe what is really "chemically defined" diet meaning that it is accurately known what chemicals are included. There are ready forms of such diet named Vivasorb.
Vivasorb is the oral bulk-free, balanced synthetic diet which is completely resorbed in the small intestine and is being used in surgical practice, for instance, to provide nearly adequate nutrition while keeping the intestines clean before the operation. It is also recommended to patients with severe forms of ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease, indigenous sprue and condition after small bowel resection.
I also found a piece of news titled "Chemical diet" that in fact described the benefits of chocolate and referred to research resuots from Holland's National Institute of Public Health and Environment, published in The Lancet medical journal.
So, I'd appreciate more information on your version of the diet. Then I'll be happy to comment.
