QuestionHi.I have two questions, but I thought I should give you some background first:
I am 21 years old, I weigh 130, I am 5'5, and I have rheumatoid arthritis. I am getting married October 21st 2006...I went in to try on my dress again today and it appears that I have gained weight...I don't know why this is. I do aerobic exercise 5 days a week for at least an hour, I watch what I eat...in fact, I calculated that on average I don't get up to 1,000 calories in a day (maybe 800).My body has been changing lately. I get more arthritic flare-ups than normal, and I feel like I have gained so much weight...Anyway, I was thinking about trying the Zone diet. I am a college student, so do you think this diet is workable with that? Also, do you think this is a good diet for someone with Rheumatism?
I know this was allot of info, but I appreciate your response and any insight you can give.
Thanks
AnswerDear Clarissa,
I've heard of reputable doctors opinions that out of all currently popular diets, only Neanderthin can ease rheumatoid arthritis and autoimmine conditions.
However, too many of my clients reported that their arthritis improved significantly on Atkins and Banta (Banta is now online and free: http://bantadiet.com) - including myself with my fibromyalgia. The matter is, low carbohydrate diets that are stricter than the Zone, seem to work against inflammation. On the other hand, Dr Agatson stresses the use of omega-3 supplements, you can benefit from it no doubts.
Now, regarding Zone's convenience for a student. Unless you can afford home delivery of their meals, it's not too promising.
Why wouldn't you go and look around the Banta, it's not too complicated convenience-wise.
Finally, your weight doesn't look excessive. You might be retaining water, not gaining fat. In this case, you'll figure out whether it's true in one week on Banta.
