QuestionThere has been some talk and I have read some about vinegar diets. Do they work as stated? Is there a site that I can go to, to read more about the diet? Also do you know what does it involve. Is it drinking vinegar or apple cider vinegar or mixing it with a meal. Anything you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Respectfully,
Robert
AnswerDear Robert,
I've never heard of this diet. Vinegar is principally used as a digestive aid in fatty meals, and whereas fermented products like sauerkraut are great for your intestinal flora, classical vinegar is not so good for you (causing the wrong kind of fermentation inside) and apel-cider vinegar is the preferred alternative. Just in case you are referring to some kind of weight loss diet, please don't believe a word of it. I have known anorexics to drink it with water on an empty stomanch to diminish appetite (it contracts the stomach). Too much vinegar is definitely bad for your teeth, gums, and stomach. If you have an ulcer you must avoid it.
If you really want more about up to date info, you'll have to try a search engine and plough through whatever pops up there.
Good luck,
Evelyn
