QuestionI am hypoglycemic and docotr has told me to go on hypoglycemic diet.But I am unable to find any clinical nutrionist here in India.
Can u send me a list of all the recommended foods which inlcudes cereals , snacks, vegetables, grain,dinks I can have.
AnswerIt is advised that you eat at least three meals and three snacks a day. Foods to avoid are: animals fats and fatty meats, hot dogs, salt pork, cold cuts, sausage, bacon, fried meats, sweetened sauces, sweets and pastry, whole milk, cream, ice cream, processed cheeses, poultry skin, fried foods, high-fat sauces and gravies, butter, shortening, hydrogenated oils, coconut oil.
Here's sample menu to give you a good idea of the hypoglycemic diet.
1) Breakfast
orange juice 1/2 cup
cornflakes 3/4 cup
whole wheat toast
margarine 1 tsp
sugar-free jelly 1 tsp
skim milk 1 cup
coffee with sugar substitute
2) Snack: orange
3) Lunch
lean hamburge
lettuce with tomato slice
cooked carrot 1/2 cup
tossed salad
fresh apple 1
sugar-free gelatin
skim milk 1 cup
4) Snack: skim milk with 3 Graham crackers
5) Dinner
baked chicken breast 2 oz
baked potato
green beans 1/2 cup
sliced strawberries
dinner roll
diet margarine 1 tsp
diet soda
6) Snack: cranberry juice,peanut butter, 6 saltine crackers
