QuestionMy daughter-in-law was recently diagnosed with an allergy to Cane Sugar, but apparently can handle Beet Sugar. Question: Is there a way to tell which sugar is which in a grocery store? Aside from C&H (Cane sugar from Hawaii), the only beet sugar we've seen identified was VERY pricey.
Thanks for any help.
AnswerDear Joanne,
Unless specifically mentioned on the label, there's no way to tell the kind of sugar. However, the Pioneer Sugar, American Crystal Sugar, White Satin, and Sidney Sugars manufacturers are known for their beet sugar product
You might also want to contact the Beet Sugar Development Foundation asking them about the brands available in regular groceries.
