QuestionMy 2 year old daughter was recently sent to see a stomach specialist because her stool did not look normal. The specialist put her on some medication to make her regular and also said that she needs to go on a high fiber diet. The only problem is that my daughter doesn't really eat much and is pretty picky about what she'll eat. She does like to drink milk, which I was told she would have to limit and replace with juice or water... which my daughter will not drink. Is there anything else that I could use to replace whole milk? Would soy milk be okay to use regularly or would that be binding like the milk? I'm trying to come up with some kid friendly alternatives, all of the things the Doctor recommended are things that I know my daughter will not eat/drink. Thanks for your help.

AnswerErin,
First of all, I would try fermented diary, which is very good for intestinal health and regularity but has health benefits far beyond that -- enhancing immune system for one thing. See link below to get some ideas about making yogurt more palatable.
Soy is a tricky thing for a little girl since it has hormone-like properties. You might want to try almond milk and desserts made of it with plain psyllium fibers, better with no artificial sweeteners added.
