my husbands problem with high Potassium levels in his blood test

Hi I am writting to you because my husband has diabetis and high blood pressurs and his kidney studies have not been great but now we see to be battleing a problem with high potassium his last test was 6.5. I need to know what to keep him from and what food he can and can't have also is there a conection between his blood sugars going down and the potassium going up? thanks for your time

Diabetics need to follow different diets depending on how long they've had diabetes, how bad it is, and if they have any damage to their internal organs (especially their kidneys). Therefore, only your husband's physician can decide what your husband should be eating. You should go with him to his appointments. Alternatively, you can make an appointment for yourself with your husband's doctor, to talk about your husband's situation. The important thing is to make sure that his doctor knows you are concerned and want to help-that way, the doctor can give you the information you need.
