AnswerOh, forgot to mention that even eye drops cause fals-positive results as reported in the Clinical Chemistry journal, 1989 Apr;35(4):636-8

Michele,
It depends on exact drug test. If it's been for cannabinoids, it's a very rough test and many people complained about false positive results. Here's a list of OTC drugs that can give a positive results while not being a "drug." Some Hoodia brands contain B-vitamins (B2 or B3) and this could influence the test. Also, since diabetes is one of condition known for influencing the test results, and some researchers think that Hoodia can elevate blood glucose level... let's put 2 and 2 together.
Check these OTC medicines known to cause false_positive result:
Ibuprofen (Advil, Nuprin, Motrin, Excedrin IB)
Ketoprofen (Orudis KT)
Naproxen (Aleve)
Promethazine (Phenergan, Promethegan)
Riboflavin (B2)
Also, as I said, some health condition (kidney infection, kidney disease, diabetes, liver disease) can cause a false positive result.
This is just an example of what could have happened. Exact reasons would call for exact test(s) and your circumstances.
