QuestionOk, well I am 18 and getting ready to start college on the eastern shore. I am an active girl, but I'm not as active as I have been. I play soccer and am playing soccer for my college. I tend to eat when ever I find the chance between soccer training and work. This typically includes McDonald's, Wendy, etc. And I usually have this always thirsty thing going on. I use to be 130-145lbs. But lately, I've jumped to 185 lbs. I am going on a cruise with my family on Christmas, and I need to lose the weight. My family has all different types of shapes from the ridicules fast metabolism to the over weight. So, I need the help.
AnswerKatie,
First thing I should tell you is weight loss is a long term commitment (if you want to see the weight stay off!). Fad diets and over dieting is quick to come off and right back on (yes, that's the truth!). I would say you could definitely lose 25 pounds (maybe a bit more, but set goals at reachable amounts) in this time. If a goal is set too high then you may become discouraged even though you lost 25 pounds!! 50 pounds takes about 9 months to 1 year to lose in a healthy way. Are you up to the challenge of staying motivated after the cruise as well? I know you can do it. Weight loss isn't about being perfect, it's about getting back on the plan after a bad meal/day/week. It usually takes 2-3 weeks to see it on the scale and about 6 weeks to 2 months to see the physical results. I recommend taking measurements and pictures. You want to measure at your bust, waist and then hips, maybe even thighs too. These are much better methods to notice real results then the scale! And please don't weigh more than once a week.
The hardest thing to get the results is STAYING MOTIVATED and doing these things can really help. Check your measurements and retake pictures every 4 weeks. I recommend to eat healthfully (don't eat too little, eat your 3 meals a day and 2 snacks) at your young age, dieting too much would be detrimental. Planning ahead is your best friend to avoid the fast food! Make lunches for the week on Sunday or every evening. Fast food does strive to have better choices, but there isn't much on these menus that would EVER aid weight loss. Even when the meals are lower in fat, they are higher in sugar, salt or calories. Also, Talk to your family doctor. Remember, being healthy is more about the long term, so keep it up after the cruise! Please let me know if you need any more info, I am here for you.
