AnswerHello Zarlasht,
First, you are not overweight. It is very good to be weight-conscious (I wish I had been earlier in my life), but not good at all to be always thinking about it and stressing about it. It's the world we live in, with all the pictures and pressure. There are a few comments I can make. First, your age matters. The younger you are the more likely you are to be pushed around and feel pressure about being thin enough. This changes as you get older, more confident, or have a good love in your life to help you realize you are just fine the way you are. Another thing, my personal experience, is never, never buy magazines with skinny women on the cover. I never felt more unhappy with myself than when I started reading Vogue and stuff. Yuck. It would have been fine if this unhappiness lead to good eating habits, but instead it just wears you down so that you cannot move forward. Really, avoid the skinny mags. You can read some other ones that still show beautiful women and men (typically in advertisements) but that are not focussed on them. Maybe like Vanity Fair or something. Just try to be aware that, if you read these magazines a lot, they are very much affecting your view about yourself and how you look. If you can watch a program on TV called "The Shot", about fashion photography, that will be a lesson on how much goes into making those models look so good. You will never match how the professionals look in photos with how you look in the mirror, no matter how thin you get.
Well, I hope you can be happier with yourself over time. Work at it, otherwise you will always be dissatisfied with yourself and life will pass you by. How you think about yourself shows to people. Do you want it to add to your beauty like a beautiful necklace, or detract from your looks as though you were wearing a frayed, dirty, grey hood. Your attitude and self respect shows. Remember that. Make it good.
Love yourself,
Arlene
