QuestionHi RPG, First thank you for your time,Im 21yr old female, Ive been on an
Atkins/semi no carb diet for months now in total I've slowly lost close to 15-
17 pounds (weigh about 168lb now im 5'7) but would still like to go down
another 15-20, at first eating raw was easy until I learned that dairy is
probably bad for me, even raw, as a child I was completely lactose intolerant
but later enjoyed cheese's and yogurt- so im trying to go paleo, i need a
good
amount of fruit like 3-4 pc a day to keep my energy up (i work out a lot) and
Im fairly muscular (for a girl), anyways Ive been trying to eat as much raw
meat
as I can but I've been getting nausous and I want to do this and now I'm so
sick today I missed work, and slept forever plus my energy just isn't the
same...Im thinking maybe a cooked lowcarb/paleo diet is better but I know
that raw is healthier, any suggestions would be awesome Thanks -Amanda
AnswerSince you don't fancy going cold-turkey, I would suggest that you start off with cooked-low-carb - then, every so often, reduce the cooking-temperature by 1 degree and reduce the amounts of sauces you use(or substitute with raw sauces/herbs, until you can get used to eating raw.
You could also experiment with IF(Intermittent Fasting). Some people report weight-loss with it, others report weight-gain, though - it depends on the individual. There are two versions:- either you eat one meal each day(usually evenings), or you could eat all you want on one day, but eat nothing at all the next(just drink mineral-water), then repating this 2-day cycle ad infinitum.
You should also experiment with proportions of carbs etc. - after all, not everyone is suited to zero-carb for various reasons(myself included).
Also, when transitioning it's common for people to experience some form of mild to major detox, though the length of time of such a detox will vary greatly. In my case, I got constant (green) diarrhea for 2 or 3 days, until my system had got rid of previous toxins. After that, detoxes were much rarer(once every few months) and much milder in effect.
One other thing:- you state that you're trying to eat as much raw meat as possible - this sounds as though you're overeating. A common mistake for raw-animal-foodists is to assume that if raw is good, then the more raw food one eats, the faster one's recovery is. This is not the case as constant digestion drains the body over time - better to eat in moderation.
Oh yes, and I should also mention that it's a good idea to have enough raw animal fat in the diet - though I would assume that you've alreayd taken this into account, most likely.
Other than that, feel free to check out the 4main raw-animal-food forums. It's always better to get opinions from more than just one person, given that peoples' experiences can be so widely different, due to circumstances/type of diet etc.
