QuestionHi Jenny- I have gone raw vegan for the past month and am absolutely loving
it. I have always loved cooking, baking etc. so this is a new adventure. What
I'd like to know is: Is there a chef school for raw food? or did you just learn
by taking classes and experimenting? Were you into cooking prior to going to
a raw/living foods lifetstyle? Anyway, any info. you can give me would be
greatly appreciated.
AnswerHello Karyn-
I'm so glad to hear you are enjoying the raw foods lifestyle it's such a great way to live! In response to your question it really depends on what you are looking to do- when I became a living foods chef there was no school that taught this information- I learned by working with any and all chefs I could find and doing everything they needed me to do- then I embarked on a journey of exploration into living foods- I imersed myself in it over 50 hours a week beginning wiht my first product line back in 2001. Now we of course have the restaurant, product line, and I teach classes of all levels. I teach a series of 4 classes that range from 4 to 8 hours in length and are designed for living foods at home. In 2009 118 (our restaurant) is launching a Chef School Series that has three parts 40 hours in legnth designed to teach you absolutely everything to do with living foods- we created this program out of an expressed need for people to take their education farther with the hopes of having their own businesses within living foods and being well adept in their own kitchens. If you would like more information on that program let me know and I can send you over a packet via email or usps. (www.shop118degrees.com)There is also another school called "Living Light" www.rawfoodchef.com that teaches living cuisine of all levels in Northern Ca. I hope this helps please let me know any further questions I may be able to answer to help guide you to the perfect place- you can reach me directly if you'd like at
[email protected]. Have a great weekend!
Peace and Blessings
Chef Jenny
