QuestionHello,
I am 22 years old and have always struggled with my body image. I am overweight, have mild-to-moderate acne, and have a sweating problem. I have been looking into the raw foods approach, and it's something that I am really excited about starting. I really want to start taking care of myself- I need to start looking at my body as a gift, and making sure that I take care of it, since it's the only body I have. I was wondering... I have read that acne is a biproduct of the body trying to rid itself of contaminates through the pores. I have read that sweating, though while providing cooling, is also a detoxification process. I was wondering... once I start eating more organic/raw foods, could I see a change in my skin and my sweating? Do you have any advice for resources or specific types of foods that I should be eating to try to correct these imbalances in my body? Any help that you can provide for me would be of great help. Thank you in advance!
AnswerEmily-
Great news, raw foods can help you conquer all of your above areas of growth and then some. When I first discovered living cuisine I was 21 stuggling with depression, body image issues, and digestive issues. I was so tired of not feeling great- I decided to give living foods a try- it couldn't get worse I decided and I'm so glad I did- it has changed my life and the lives of those around me in more ways than I can count and I have experienced such freedom from the issues I used to experience. So first let em say congratualtions on looking into something with such healing power and ability! As far as resources go there are a lot of great books for beginners- My first book Life Force Foods Recipe book by David Jubb, is very basic, and it's older now but it really helped me get started, secondly Raw Food, Real World is a great book with lots of great information, stories and recipes to guide you. Then we offer consultation, classes and recipe packets as well and I would be happy to forward you relevant information basic on your geographic location- Let me know where you are at and I can send all of that over. I hope that helps- specifically it would be a good idea to begin by adding a lot more greens to your diet either in smoothies or juices or eating large supersalads that are very cleansing. A great easy smoothie recipe is as follows:
1 Mango or 1 Cup Pinneapple
1 Banana
1 Young Thai Coconut (water) or 1/2 Cup Orange juice
1 Cup Fresh Spinach or 2 Leaves Lacinato Kale
2 Tsp Agave nectar
Blend well with 1/2 cup ice and enjoy- Add Spirulina, Supergreens or Blue Green Algae powder for even more nutritional value.
It may sound strange to blend in the greens, but you really can't taste them and they are really beneficial for some the of issues you are in the process of reversing.
Hope that helps!
Let me know your location and I can forward you more resources-
Peace and Blessings
