Answer
Dear Ranroun,

For your stature you are at least 10 kg underweight. Which is a fairly alarming amount if you can say that you have gone through full adolescent development otherwise (breasts/menstruation and body hair). 40 kg would have been a healthy starting point at the beginning of your adolescence (age 13). It is important for you to verify that you were at a healthy (normal) weight then: this will help you assess where it all began to go wrong. You cannot fix this situation without knowing that. There could be a genetic problem, you need to know about but maybe cannot fix so easily. Or there could be something you need to start fixing fast.

The fact that people around you are noticing you are underweight suggests to me that you have changed a lot recently. This could mean that you are suffering from a slumbering illness or a growth/hormone deficiency; or you have an eating disorder. The first option requires advice from a GP urgently. The second option no less, but you are unlikely to see it that way, if this is the case.

Since you are more or less coming up with your own answer, I am going to address this point a bit further. On the one hand you say you are happy being skinny, but on the other you are requesting for a suggestion how to eat more calories and gain weight fast. This sounds like a panicky solution and does not necessarily exclude the possibility of your suffering from anorexia nervosa; but it would be a very  subtle, and deeply engrained form. If this is the case you first need extensive psychological treatment. To admit to this would be no small feat.

Otherwise the solution is very simple: eat more. Not more calorie-rich food, per se. But larger and more nutritious meals. Three square meals a day, with cereals, five servings of vegetables (especially roots and beans) and fruit, a small amount of protein, and natural sources of fats like full fat yoghurt, milk, cheese, butter, oily fish, olive or vegetable oils, nuts and seeds will soon enough amount to 2000 calories. It would probably be unrealistic to imagine yourself eating more than that, in an attempt to fatten up. But an indulgent snack (dates, dried fruit and nuts, an energy bar or a milkshake) would help you to keep yourself in the "eating mood". I fear, however, that you are eating half that, to have reached such a low weight. Besides "fattening up" seldom works and is likely to make you feel very miserable.

I suspect you nibble and do not have much of a healthy appetite. If you DO have a hearty appetite and enjoy full meals, love cooking, buying fresh products, throwing dinner parties, then you have a serious metabolic disorder,  a tape worm, a thyroid problem or some other organic failure, if not a (genetic) malignancy. If you have any (regular or chronic) diahoerrea or nausea (vomiting) you must see a doctor instantly.

It is vital to really appreciate your food. It therefore needs to be stimulating to your senses (this influences your digestive processes positively). Make sure your meals are colourful, fragrant and flavoursome. Eat in peace and joy. Vary as much as possible to make sure you absorb the right minerals and vitamins. Combinations influence your metabolism too. Serve yourself platefuls to make sure you are not cheating (having but two tablespoonfuls of half a slice of toast).

It will be a concern if you are under-eating - for whatever reason - that you cannot get sufficient nutrients and this will start to cause organ failure or metabolic disorders - some of it irreparable once you become a full adult (21). If you are pale or fatigued, you may have aenemia.  Take signs of bad (acne or dry) skin,  bruising easily, and halitosis (bad breath) seriously. Depression, anxiety, or melancholia are also caused by poor nourishment. Once people start commenting on your weight there are always other signs that make them concerned, really. Weight issues are seldom noticed on their own, since they occur gradually and people become accostomed to your surreptitious change. A healthy person's personality always outweighs under- or over- weight.

It is possible that you form an exception and must go through life as a very skinny person, whilst you are otherwise healthy enough. Then no diet can help you much. Just eat healthily and avoid junk (since you won't have room for both). You will always need to monitor for certain diseases a little more closely though, since this stature/weight ratio does point to certain system errors, as it were. But nothing serious need come of it for a very long while.

I give you the worst case scenarios above to underscore that a "size zero" is very detrimental to one's health and, ultimately, happiness - even if you are not intentionally aiming for a super-model look. Sometimes bad habits creep in or stresses start to shape  you into a person you are not really meant to be. Then it is time to shake yourself up and use food and your body to teach you (spirit being that you are) to incarnate your soul more firmly: this will be manifested as a better balance between height and weight. Funnily enough, it also means getting plenty of exercise and above all grounding yourself with passive and active body work (massage or aroma therapy, and something creative and meditative, like painting or tai chi, yoga, a martial art even). Nurture a personal interest with devotion, be it gardening, or bookbinding, sky diving or astrology - especially anything that animates you and makes you feel warm inside. Often some kind of void in your soul-life underlies severe underweight, and a refusal to take full responsibility over your incarnation.

A GP can also help you check your BMI (body mass index - which should be around 19-20 to match your stats). This will show whether you are able to make any fat reserves at all, or whether you have very light (fragile!) bones or underdeveloped/atrophied muscles. These facts will give you an objective starting point. Whether you chose to stick to your objective "I'm fine" point of view is entirely up to you. Just note that this could be the opinion of your darker side, not the lighter side that really wants to emerge and feel free. Never fear your shadow, though. It's a great challenge if you do get to meet her face to face. Work hard and you will win the battle and be the dancer of your own temple.

Once you figure out the root cause of your under-weight, you can always ask for more information regards a healthy "normal" diet if you still feel stuck. The cause also determines where the emphasis of your nutrition must lie (carbs or protein) or what herbal remedies can help you gain weight.
Love Evelyn.
