QuestionI'm not sure if you can answer my question, but I didn't know any other catagory to go to for my question. I am 18 years old and was told at 13 I'm insulin resistance. I was put on the medication Metforman, but since the five years have gone by, I haven't been able to lose weight. I went to the gym, watched what I ate, but wasn't able to lose much. Do you know of anything that I could do to help in my goal to lose weight? I'm currently 235 lbs (give or take) and haven't been 'skinny' since I was a baby.
AnswerDear Brittany,
I am afraid I cannot, indeed, help you any futher, since your question contains a serious medical issue which requires a professional nutritionalist to help you compile a healthy diet. Things like unrefined carbohydrates and fresh vegetables will no doubt be put very central. Hydrogenated and saturated fats, white sugar, (regular consupmtion of) meat and all alcohol will do you harm.
From an alternative perspective, insulin problems indicate that your Higher Self finds it hard to "metabolise and digest" earth-bound life. It takes much effort to convert what we eat into what we are into what we have to do. Strenthening your soul will be the place to start. One can do a lot of work through maintaining a right diet. Your disorder can help you become a "better being" in that sense, in a practical, step by step, life long process. This is to be REAL!
Working on an understanding of yourself as a spititual being may therefore be therapeutic in the long run. Physical exercise and relaxation practices are also very important, because they help to regulate your rhythmic and circulatory system, which will better help you connect your upper and your lower pole. Yoga in a round-about way does help you lose weight if you practice it holistically (not power yoga necessarily!). Tai chi and many other holistic exercise routines can be supportive to a good diet. Eating healthily to meet your real needs always gets you down to the weight that is most comfortable for you. Only your soul can know your inner needs: a bit of a catch 22 at first, but you are still young and must remain patient with life.
You are not just a compilation of body PARTS but an organic whole. I just wanted to remind you of this while you continue your quest to find the right practical help.
Wishing you all the best
Love Evelyn.
