QuestionHi, I recently have started eating raw liver ("organic"), and my family is freaking out because they are afraid that I will contract Hep B from this. They are very concerned about the level of toxins that raw liver has, and are generally afraid for my health. I'm doing my best to assuage their fears, but I was wondering what you knew about the risks of contracting Hep B/C, ingesting toxins or other diseases, etc. with eating the liver raw. Thank You so much.
AnswerYou needn't worry - as long as the raw liver comes from wild animals or 100% grassfed cattle, there's no need to worry about toxins. Grainfed cattle, on the other hand, are extremely unhealthy so that it's a bad idea to eat raw grainfed meat, IMO. Here's a website which describes some of the benefits re grassfed meat, which mentions how grassfed meat is much less likely to transmit disease:-

Other than that, all I can say is that reports of food-poisoning epidemics and the like are nonexistent within the raw-animal-food-eating community. This is partly because we're eating healthy raw foods but also because our bodies are much stronger, with more efficient immune systems as a result of eating raw, so that we are far less likely to be affected by such issues. Come to think of it, the only people who really seem to suffer/die etc. from food-poisoning and the like tend to be cooked-foodists who are already very ill(ie having diabetes type 2, that sort of thing).
