QuestionWhat is your opinion regarding the Fruitarian diet? Have you ever tried it? Do you think living/eating this way is possible?
Also, it's hard for me to give up the notion that the Fruitarian diet is the ultimate of all and the healthiest way to eat. What is your diet now and what do you feel is the best diet for the average person? Do you think a lacto-vegetarian diet is best? I am so confused. I have gone off and on the raw diet for almost 20 years -- and each time I try the Fruitarian diet I end up with eating disorder-like symptoms and "orthorexia (addiction to righteous eating). I can't make peace with my diet.
AnswerHello Bianca,
Can you better define what you mean by fruitarian for me? Some raw foodists eat only fruit = frutarian. But a standard raw food diet encompasses nuts, seeds, sprouted grains, etc. No diet is perfect for everyone, but I can tell you what has worked for me- A 95% living foods diet comprised of a BALANCED combination of fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds, and sprouted grains. The other 5% is whole plant foods like yams, quinoa, and beans. My diet is also rich in superfoods like maca root, hemp seeds, etc. and I focus on primarily dark leafy greens, sea vegetables, and so forth- I acutally do very little fruit - my body metabolises it too quickly leaving me hungry etc. It's important to find the balance, itf you veer too extreme then you can become imbalanced both mentally and physically. I hope this helps, please feel free to email me at
